Meditation

10/21/24 | by Rev. David Brown

Today in Episode 7 Lead Pastor, Rev. David Brown, will share an impactful message centered on the theme of Meditation. This message will be accentuated by the beautiful, uplifting and soulful sounds of music by the talented Armstrong Chancel Choir directed by Ben Basone and Stacy Haney on the piano and organ.

As he was setting out on a journey, a man ran up and knelt before him and asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness. You shall not defraud. Honor your father and mother.’ “ He said to him, “Teacher, I have kept all these since my youth.” Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, “You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.” When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions.
-Mark 10:17-22

Guided Christian Meditation

This week, Rev. David Brown is asking for each of us to take a moment for Christian Meditation in our lives. Amidst the hustle and bustle of our modern world, he reminds us of the immense spiritual benefits that come from spending quiet, reflective moments with God. By embracing Christian Meditation, we open ourselves up to spiritual growth and a deeper sense of purpose in our journey of faith.

Share in the movement towards a more centered and enriched spiritual life.

Steps for your Guided Christian Meditation:

Close your eyes

Visualize a favorite place; example: Beach, Mountains, Grandmother’s table

Spend a few moments looking at specific details of that place: sand in your toes, wind in leaves, fresh cookie

Imagine Jesus walking into that place, what does he do? Does he touch your hand, offer you a hug, simply smiles at you?

Spend moments us looking at the details of his face. Consider what he might say to you. Are they words of encouragement? Word of correction or rebuke Does he offer you an important insight? What would you say to him?

Quietly watch him leave: is it sudden, or does he slowly walk from sight. Know you can come back and find him here again.

Now open your eyes and write down what your experience and start your daily journey of Christian Meditation.
