A King Who Redeems Our Life

Date:1/5/25

Passage: Isaiah 60:1-6

Speaker: David Brown

Twelve Days of Christmas

Epiphany falls on January 6 and is observed on the closest Sunday. The Greek word epiphany simply means “to reveal” or “to make manifest.” It was the name given by early Christians to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the revelation of God’s love to the world (John 3:16).

Today, the congregation gathers together to gather in time of worship and prayer, humbly offering their gratitude to the Almighty. As Lead Pastor, Rev. David Brown, will share an impactful message centered on the theme of A King Who Redeems Our Life.

1 Rise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. 2 For darkness shall cover the earth and thick darkness the peoples, but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will appear over you. 3 Nations shall come to your light and kings to the brightness of your dawn...

-Isaiah 60: 1-6

The service will be accentuated by the beautiful, uplifting and soulful sounds of music by the talented Armstrong Chancel Choir directed by Ben Basone and Stacy Haney on the organ and piano. Together, the faithful will lift their hearts in timeless hymns of worship, including the beloved United Methodist hymns What Child Is This, O Come, All Ye Faithful, and Star-ChildThen the children of the congregation will also have their moment to shine, as the Children's Sunday School Program presents a special Children's Moment exploring the depths of faith. Undergirding the service is the steadfast devotion of liturgist, Shelley Bamberberger, who will lead the congregation in the Call to Worship and guide them through the appointed scripture passages. A special thank you to our greeters, Brenda Walker and Leslie and Mark Pennell. This multi-faceted celebration of praise and reverence will undoubtedly fill the hearts of all in attendance with a profound sense of gratitude and connection to the divine.

10 May the kings of Tarshish and of the isles render him tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba bring gifts. 11 May all kings fall down before him, all nations give him service. 12 For he delivers the needy when they call, the poor and those who have no helper. 13 He has pity on the weak and the needy and saves the lives of the needy. 14 From oppression and violence he redeems their life, and precious is their blood in his sight.
-Psalm 72:10-14
