Facing a New Year: Living on the Gospel Side

Date:12/29/24

Category: Advent

Passage: Psalms

Speaker: David Brown

Modern Wesley Covenant

Remembering as presented in Scriptures is a meaningful, sacred participation in the reality of past events resulting in powerful implications for one’s life in the present!

Today, the congregation gathers together to gather in time of worship and prayer, humbly offering their gratitude to the Almighty. As Lead Pastor, Rev. David Brown, will share an impactful message centered on the theme of Facing a New Year: Living on the Gospel Side.

Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his glory is above earth and heaven…. Praise the Lord!

-Psalm 148:13

The service will be accentuated by the beautiful, uplifting and soulful sounds of music by the talented Lynne Miller and Emerson Wynn Together, the faithful will lift their hearts in timeless hymns of worship, including the beloved United Methodist hymns Joy to the World, and Love Came Down at Christmas. Then the children of the congregation will also have their moment to shine, as the Children's Sunday School Program presents a special Children's Moment exploring the depths of faith. Undergirding the service is the steadfast devotion of liturgist, Victoria Rhodus, who will lead the congregation in the Call to Worship and guide them through the appointed scripture passages. A special thank you to our greeters, Barry Dixon and Jim Pearce. This multi-faceted celebration of praise and reverence will undoubtedly fill the hearts of all in attendance with a profound sense of gratitude and connection to the divine.

He said to them, “Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” 50 But they did not understand what he said to them. 51 Then he went down with them and came to Nazareth and was obedient to them, and his mother treasured all these things in her heart. 52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and in years and in divine and human favor.
-Luke 2:41-52
