What do you think of when you think of angels?
December 1, Angel Appears to Zechariah and Elizabeth
The Advent Wreath has been part of the Christmas tradition since the 15th century. It is circular in shape, reminding us of God’s unending love for us, and represents life found in Jesus Christ. This year we will feature the work of angels as messengers from God.
Today, the congregation gathers together to gather in time of worship and prayer, humbly offering their gratitude to the Almighty. As Lead Pastor, Rev. David Brown, will share an impactful message centered on the theme of Angelic Messages.
14 The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 15 In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 16 In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this is the name by which it will be called: “The Lord is our righteousness.”
-Jeremiah 33:14-16
The service will be accentuated by the beautiful, uplifting and soulful sounds of music by the talented Armstrong Chancel Choir directed by Ben Basone and Stacy Haney on the organ and piano. Together, the faithful will lift their hearts in timeless hymns of worship, including the beloved United Methodist hymns Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus, Emmanuel, Emmanuel, and People, Look East. Then the children of the congregation will also have their moment to shine, as the Children's Sunday School Program presents a special Children's Moment exploring the depths of faith. Undergirding the service is the steadfast devotion of liturgist, Beth Eberle, who will lead the congregation in the Call to Worship and guide them through the appointed scripture passages. This weeks advent candle will be lit by Mark & Victoria Rhodus. A special thank you to our greeters, Brenda Walker, Leslie & Mark Pennell. This multi-faceted celebration of praise and reverence will undoubtedly fill the hearts of all in attendance with a profound sense of gratitude and connection to the divine.
8 Yet, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand. 9 Do not be exceedingly angry, O Lord, and do not remember iniquity forever. Now consider, we are all your people.
-Isaiah 64:8-9
