Series: The Gift of Empathy

Passage: Galatians 6:2

Speaker: David Brown

Love leans in first. It listens long enough to understand why. It hears what a person fought through to get to where they are. It listens until it can hear with empathy. – Brian Johnson

Today, the congregation gathers together to partake in a sacred time of worship and prayer, humbly offering their gratitude to the Almighty. As they lift their voices in reverent praise, they are guided by the esteemed leadership of Rev. David Brown, Lead Pastor, who will share an impactful message centered on the theme of Moved with Compassion.

"But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine."  Luke 10:33-34

The service will be accentuated by the beautiful, uplifting sounds of music, as the congregation is led in song by the talented Stacy Haney on the organ and piano. Adding to the musical celebration, the community is honored to welcome back from a summer break, Armstrong Chancel Choir directed by Ben Basone, who will grace the sanctuary with their soulful tones. Together, the faithful will lift their hearts in timeless hymns of worship, including the beloved United Methodist hymns O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee, Close to Thee, and Nothing BetweenAmidst this sacred symphony, the children of the congregation will also have their moment to shine, as the Children's Sunday School Program presents a special Children's Moment exploring the depths of faith. Undergirding the service is the steadfast devotion of liturgist, E. Hanlin Bavely, who will lead the congregation in the Call to Worship and guide them through the appointed scripture passages. This multi-faceted celebration of praise and reverence will undoubtedly fill the hearts of all in attendance with a profound sense of gratitude and connection to the divine.

"When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." Matthew 9:36

The dedicated production team of Armstrong Youth, Alex K, Kashena Rhoill, and Shanon Rice played a vital role in ensuring today's worship service was a seamless, engaging experience for all in attendance. Elevating the worship experience and ensuring the pastor's words, the choir's harmonies, and the community's prayers are shared far beyond the walls of the sanctuary. "Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind." Philippians 2:1-2
