Rejoice with the Angel

Date:12/15/24

Category: Advent

Passage: Isaiah 12:2-6

Speaker: David Brown

Behold the King of Angels

Moment of Meditation: Advent is a season of four weeks, which calls the community of faith to prepare once again to celebrate, by Word and Spirit, the birth of Christ. Advent is from the Latin “adventus,” meaning “coming.” Jesus is the King of Angels, born to set His people free and whose coming again in victory, we anticipate as a future reality of the fullness of God’s Kingdom.

Today, the congregation gathers together to gather in time of worship and prayer, humbly offering their gratitude to the Almighty. As Lead Pastor, Rev. David Brown, will share an impactful message centered on the theme of Rejoice with the Angel.

2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and will not be afraid, for the LORD is my strength and my might; he has become my salvation.” 3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. 4 And you will say on that day: “Give thanks to the LORD; call on his name; make known his deeds among the nations; proclaim that his name is exalted. 5 Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously; let this be known in all the earth. 6 Shout aloud and sing for joy, O royal Zion, for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.”

-Isaiah 12:2-6

The service will be accentuated by the beautiful, uplifting and soulful sounds of music by the talented  Armstrong Chancel Choir; directed by Ben Basone, The joyful melodies of the Armstrong Bell Choir; directed by Chester Imhausen and Stacy Haney on the organ and piano. This week we also have the lovely Grace Wynn singing In the Bleak Mid-Winter. Together, we will lift our hearts in timeless hymns of worship, including the beloved United Methodist hymn Emmanuel, Emmanuel, Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus and Infant Holy, Infant Lowly. Amidst this sacred symphony, the children of the congregation will also have their moment to shine, as the Children's Sunday School Program presents a special Children's Moment exploring the depths of faith. Undergirding the service is the steadfast devotion of liturgist, Barbara Bell who will lead the congregation in the Call to Worship and guide them through the appointed scripture passages. This weeks advent candle will be lit by, Jim Gilchrist and 3 Grandsons. A special that you to our greeters; Sally Scherr, Shannon and Galen Mills. This multi-faceted celebration of praise and reverence will undoubtedly fill the hearts of all in attendance with a profound sense of gratitude and connection to the divine.

4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. 5 Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
-Philippians 4:4-7
